The Tru by Hilton Smithfield I-95 is an excellent choice for your next stay! The hotel is new and well-designed—I absolutely love the style and interiors of the Tru brand, especially the emphasis on communal gathering in the lobby areas, where several groups of guests were joined together watching Christmas movies and drinking hot chocolate! My room was very comfortable, with a modern design—and clean! The bathroom was also modern and stylish, with a glass walk-in shower and spacious vanity—and again, very clean! Above all, the staff at this hotel are what really make it shine!! I’d like to thank Sean, Ketia, and Bernard for an incredible stay— To Sean, the general manager: Thank you for taking care of me last-minute—you have no idea how much I genuinely appreciate you and just how grateful I am for you and your kindness. To Ketia, the front desk agent: Thank you for greeting me with a smile and warmth when I checked in. I was pretty exhausted when I arrived, and it’s always such relief to see a friendly face at the front desk! And, to Bernard, the breakfast attendant: Bernard, Bernard, Bernard. My MAN!!! You, sir, truly embody the word “hospitality”—you have got to be one of the most authentically compassionate, caring, and empathetic individuals I’ve ever encountered: You personally greeted every single breakfast guest and wished each of them a Merry Christmas; you asked every guest how they were doing—except you genuinely cared about their response; you ran drinks back-and-forth from the beverage bar to tables, as if you were a server in a restaurant; offered to make plates for every parent and grandparent with a kid, because you, too, “know how exhausting it can be to be a parent, and we all just need some rest”; you made plates for, and carried them to their tables, every little kid who couldn’t reach the breakfast bar, so their grand/parents could keep sitting down… Bernard, your warmth, kindness, and flat-out love for every guest you met was truly something special to experience. Thank you, sincerely. The world could use a hell of a lot more Bernards!
