“Lovely hotel”

Me and my partner stayed 3 nights at the Buxton cresent in July 2026. We stayed on a Sunday night and stayed in the area for the week and enjoyed the hotel so much we returned a couple of days later for a couple more nights on a secret escapes package. The hotel was lovely and the staff make the place. The spa is lovely and we loved the roof top pool. We were lucky and managed to get a sun lounger but have to say that there weren’t many sun loungers on the roof top. Room was amazing and the location and concierge and reception staff were great. The first night we stayed we paid the £30 for private parking but tbh just park a few streets up the road and save yourself £30 a night. Dinner was lovely and the restaurant have cracked dinner. Megan the restaurant supervisor was brilliant and professional and all the staff were amazing and worked as a team. A real pleasure to watch and it showed in the service we received . The quality of food was good and good value for money ( having worked in the hotel and restaurant trade for a few years) My only criticism of the hotel was breakfast. Having worked in the hotel trade I felt sorry for the restaurant supervisors at breakfast and was painful to watch. It was quite obvious to me having worked in the trade as restaurant mgr the waiting staff are lazy and not listening to management. Walking around aimlessly. Also Chatting in groups and standing around whilst tables needing clearing and the buffet empty and Needing topping up and quests asking for more food on the buffet. This after they have been told to by the managers which I watched on all 3 mornings we had breakfast , who then completely ignored the managers/ supervisors when asked to do so and just moaned about then when they left the restaurant. Appalling behaviour and from reading other reviews my observations are born out. Such a shame. Hate to moan further but have to say the quality of breakfast isn’t great, cheap bread etc and sorry but the breakfast chef can’t fry an egg or poach an egg as they were totally overcooked. Or is it the case that the food was left hanging around by waiting staff ? But overall a lovely hotel and would definitely come back. But please Just sort out breakfast.

“Lovely hotel, delightful staff but food could be improved”

This is a beautiful hotel and wonderfully convenient for shops , the Opera House and other Festival locations. The room was excellent with a huge comfortable bed. “Could be so much better!!”

Great location, great building, great brand ownership…..BUT………a poor and unsatisfactory stay. Arrived and met with friends for a sandwich lunch before going to see The Merry Widow ( which was fantastic ) ………club sandwich took an age to arrive and was pretty dreadful!
