“Lovely stay”

Had a two night break at this lovely hotel. We had a superb room with tea and coffee making facilities and great toiletries. Our breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.

The hotel was quirky and very old,right in the centre of town. The rooms were very clean and well appointed. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. The hotel was quirky and very old,right in the centre of town. The rooms were very clean and well appointed. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Both were delicious and very reasonably priced. Our dog was made very welcome. The jewel in the crown were the staff, nothing too much trouble ,happy and smiling throughout our stay. Ted our dog especially loved David who supplied him with treats. Thank you to all and we’ll be back in Summer.

“A lovely one night getaway”

We had a thoroughly enjoyable overnight stay here in room #504, a deluxe twin in an annexe room overlooking the car park. Everything about the room impressed us, from its spaciousness to the lovely seating area where we sat and admired the views of the river which had flooded its banks due to plenty of rain. The beds were so comfortable and, like all the other Coaching Inn properties we’ve experienced, there was a Roberts radio, television and good hospitality tray which included bottled water and biscuits, as well as a Nespresso coffee machine and pods (having read Azzehc’s damning review about the same room from November 2025, I can’t believe we stayed in the same place!). Even though it was small, the en suite was perfect with plenty of hot water, good quality towels that were a decent size, and the usual lovely, complimentary H2K toiletries. I really appreciated the night light under the washbasin in the bathroom which was on a movement sensor and just perfect for nipping to the loo during the night without my friend and I disturbing each other. Apart from when we checked in, and were left to try and find room #504 by ourselves without any offer of practical assistance, we found staff to be really friendly, helpful and efficient. We ate in the hotel on the night of our arrival and had a lovely meal from the fixed price menu (soup & a feta dish for starters and mains of sausage & mash and a small fish & chips) which, at £16.50 p.p for two courses, was excellent value. Breakfast was equally delicious, high quality with plenty of choice that included hot food cooked to order. Overall, we had a great stay here. Of course, it’s an old building so don't expect the shiny newness of modern hotels but, for us and probably the majority of people who choose to stay in a coaching inn, the age and character is all part of the charm.

A colleague and I called in on spec and were very happy with our choice. The welcome was very friendly, the atmosphere was a quiet and friendly buzz, the beer was good (Wye Valley HPA and Butty Bach) , the menu was varied and easy to read, the food was very good - my friend had fish and chips and I had lamb’s liver - the service was good, etc, etc. We were happy to have experienced the Tudor House. If only all food pubs were to operate to the same standards!
