What a lovely holiday we had skiing in Hakuba. This was the first time for us skiing in Japan so we didn't know what to expect. The Chateau Lausanne was a fantastic base to stay at. The hosts were really lovely and helpful even before we arrived and I needed to change our plans. The room was comfortable and clean and the breakfast was a lovely start to the day with a continental and cooked option cooked to order. The shuttle bus to the ski areas went from just a couple of minute walk away and it was in the pretty Echoland area not far from the restaurants and bard Thank you Rob and Yoshi for a lovely holiday in Japan

We were a group of 6 (2 couples and some friends) and we felt extremely lucky with our booking of a 10 night stay at Chateau Lausanne. The owners, Rob and Yoshi along with their young family are very welcoming, great to talk to and of course phenomenal in the morning to include breakfast as part of the stay to give us energy for the slopes! It is exceptionally easy to get to iwatake, happo one and goryu/47 mountains from their b& b as the busses run from oak forest (a nearby hotel) and if you get stuck, all the taxis also know this hotel 'oak-a forest'...Always first on the busses as well which meant we got a seat each day (first busses of the day to the slopes). To get to the main strip of echoland where there are so many amazing restaurants and bars is about a 10 minute walk (or quicker if you're hungry/thirsty). Also, onsen at oak forest hotel (about 5 min walk from chateau is cheap and great after a day on the mountain. We really loved the cozy b&b, the great hosts, comfy beds, and all the things that were above and beyond our expectations...we never expect anything...but really soooo good! We hope to see them again next year as both the mountains and accomodation were phenomenal.

We loved it! I went with my girlfriend for 3 days and it was perfect. The hosts Rob and Yoshi speak perfect English and are very helpful. They went to pick us up at the train station, they helped us look for ski equipment and a ski school to learn and the hot breakfast every morning was great. The Chateau is located just a short walk from the main street of Echoland. We loved Hakuba and we loved Chateau Lausanne.

The property's only a 3 min walk from the closest bus stop (Goryu Hondinirichi) for the snow shuttles, or a 5 min walk to the next closest (Hotel Oak Forest) which operates a few extra shuttles. Also only a 5 min walk to the main strip in Echoland which has a bunch of bars & restaurants. The hosts, Yoshi & Rob, were super helpful and friendly. Picked us up from Hakuba Station when we arrived and dropped us off at Happo Bus Terminal when we left. Also gave us a lift to the bus station on a separate day when we needed. No complaints about the room. It's very standard but had all the basics that we needed. Heater worked well, we were never cold. There's a small drying rack for hanging some of your clothes which was handy. Bathroom was small but not too small. Shower water pressure was good and didn't have any issues with hot water. Bath. There is no fridge in the room, we left whatever we needed to keep cold (yoghurts, beers etc) on the outer windowsill and that was totally fine! The drying room for all your snow gear works well. It's small and can get crowded when there's a lot of guests but our stuff was always dry by morning and that's what matters. The free breakfast was very basic but more than sufficient to get you through until lunch time. The cooked option was between either bacon, sausage, mushroom & scrambled egg or a vegetarian option which substitutes the meat for avocado. Both very small but you can also help yourself to the standard cereal, toast, juice, coffee & tea.
