There are very few international hotel in Yangshuo. This should be the only if location is important in your decision. It is located at an excellent area. It is just 5 minutes walk from the Li River Cruise and a further 15 minutes walk to West Street. There are many good restaurants in the area (all of them claiming to be the best beer fish). This is also not the cheapest or most value for money hotel (Lotus hotel is higher class and you get much more at 1/3 more cost). Nevertheless, I will recommend this hotel for a few reasons and also state the cons: Pros: 1. The rooftop outdoor balcony view is amazing. It is worth the price you paid. It is at the highest floor next to the washing machine. The best time to visit is during winter, in the morning before the bright sun comes out (7am to 8am). The view is spectacular with the karst caves and morning fog. Great place to take photos. The 7 degrees in the morning helps too. 2. The location is unmatched for an international hotel in Yangshuo. As elaborated earlier, nice eateries, West Street and Li River Cruise are all within walkable distance. There is also a provision shop next to the hotel that opens till around 9pm if you are looking for instant noodles or light snacks. It is also easy to get a taxi as it is located on a main road. 3. The room is spartan and 20th century in decor but it works. The water shower heats up very fast and the hotel feels safe as there is only one entrance. It is Wyndham standard with no unwanted guests. You feel safe and will get a comfortable night sleep. 4. The hotel does not offer International adapters. But every room has a multi port (Lighting, mini USB and USB C) charger. If you forgot to bring your charger, you can still charge your phone with it. 5. Service is good for the price I pay. The hotel team is friendly and helpful. There is also a welcome drink at the lobby which is good if you are thirsty only, Cons 1. The room is cooled and heated with a single air conditioner. It is clearly inadequate during winter. I was freezing cold in the room during 7 degrees December winter despite adjusting the temperature to 28 degrees in heater mode. The air conditioner is too small for a room of this size. 2. The hotel feels old and dated. It has a 90s room and lobby design. There is a gallery filled with photos of ex political leaders like Deng Xiaoping that reinforces the retro going back time feel. The room 32 inch TV is small with only local channels. The shower gel has no aromatic smell and the toilet floor is slippery too, with beds losing its spring. Lifts are also slow and small with low capacity. But low floors can be noisy too as it is next to a main road. You can factor these concerns when you decide on the room. 3. The breakfast corner has few choices. It is edible but does not go beyond filling the stomach and mostly vegetarian dishes. The fried noodles is my favourite dish. Please also note the breakfast corner is small and it is difficult to find a seat during its peak hour 7am to 8am. In short, I will pay to stay in this hotel for safety, location and its roof top pantry view. It is unlikely we will spend a lot of time in the hotel when we are on holiday so the weaknesses can be forgiven.
