We went there with a group of 4 for dinner. The atmosphere of the is typical Austrian (wooden ceiling, cozy tables and lots of padded animals). The staff is friendly and quick, although she doesn't speak German that well. However, her friendly and helpful atmosphere didn't make use bother about the language barrier. The ordered food came quickly and it was very good. The fries and baked potatoes were hot, the vegetables/salads fresh and the meat superb. The choice of drinks is good. All prices are reasonable. There is free parking available, but you can also walk from Fügen (takes about 20 minutes). Definitely recommend this place!

We are a family of three which stayed four nights. We found Gasthof Hamberg to be a very basic, acceptable accommodation. Negatives: Bathroom shower was very small. We are not large people, 68, 59 and 51 kilos ... but found the shower to be tight and uncomfortable. While showering, it was hard to avoid bumping into the showers water flow, temperature lever.... causing us to inadvertently change water temperature and flow ... very frustrating. The toilet in this bathroom is in desperate need of a change out. This old style Eastern European toilet, which I last encountered in the USSR on a trip in the 1980s, features a raised platform in the bowl which you sit over and the drain up front which allows for "full disclosure" of your business. Full display on the platform for increased odor... disgusting. Very poor ventilation unless you keep the bathroom door open. The furnishings are very basic, probably never updated. Beware, no a/c in this hotel. You must open the window and door for some air which unfortunately lets in the flies. Flies are everywhere in Gasthof Hamberg... In your room, in the halls, in the restaurant. Fly swatters are provided to restaurant patrons to combat the flies. It is almost comical watching the restaurant patrons constantly swatting at flies while seated and trying to eat their meals. We also were provided a fly swatter in our room, a necessary amenity. As for amenities, you will only find squirt hand soap at the bathroom sink. Unfortunately, no bathing soap, shampoo or conditioner was provided... so bring your own. Positives: The girls serving the food are very nice. The food was good and plentiful.
