We stayed in these apartments because one of my friends is a teacher in Alpedrete and he rents one on a permanent basis. Like quite a few hotels and tourist apartment blocks in Spain several the rooms have been sold off and now are in private ownership. These are budget apartments but never the less ours was clean, bright and modern with a comfortable bed.In fact the only thing that was broken was the safe, unlike our friends room where the ceiling was falling down. I say budget because we paid £300 for the week whereas it would have been £553 if we'd booked it on Booking.com. Anybody paying that price for this accommodation would be really disappointed, so I would strongly advise anyone wanting to stay here to contact the owners direct. The apartments themselves are well located and have good views over the surrounding mountains which were snow capped whilst we were there. There is a good supermarket in the same building which meant that we didn't' have far to go for our groceries and wine. There is also a cafe although we only went there for coffee. It is also only a short walk into Alpedrete which is a charming little town with a couple of excellent squares, one with restaurants in it and the other with a church and a town hall straight out of Trumpton. Alpedrete has a railway station about 20 mins walk away and a bus stop right outside the apartments from where you can get a bus into Madrid for 4.20 Euros. Whilst we were there as well as visiting Madrid, we also went to the towns of El Escorial Segovia and Toledo all by public transport. We wouldn't have gone to these apartments if our friend hadn't booked it for us. We had an excellent time even though it wasn't the best accommodation I've ever stayed in.

Where to begin? We booked for four people. The apartment was ready only for two. Only two towels, The sheets did not fit the hide a bed. Etc. The security guard did his best to find the needed supplies. As it was a weekend, there was no one on duty,despite it being called Tourist Apartments. The instructions to check in on the bank machine type device was only in Spanish, despite being called tourist apartments. In fact, there never seemed to be anyone there. When we went to check out, on a weekday, I had seen someone in the office just a few minutes before checking out but could not find anyone when we went to leave. We searched in the hall but could not wait any longer and left the room cards under the office door, never to return. The hide a bed was very uncomfortable.The apartment was on the Second floor with sloped ceiling so very small. Not suitable at all for four people. The building design is very convoluted and hard to find your way around. It seems to be a couple of buildings mashed together. The internet did not work even in reception. That did not seem unusual at all according to the only staff we met The guy who was there once said to use the restaurant Wi-Fi. Well, that was not what we paid for. Very disappointing overall. The good: Well i guess the fact that there is a really good bar/coffee shop/restaurant downstairs; with super nice staff; a Dia grocery store next door and a gas station with a late night Carrefour Express covers it. That,and there is a good suburban bus service to Madrid in forty five minutes that lets you off in the subway which is easy to use. It is a low cost place, but you hardly get what you pay for.
