“Convenient stay”

Friendly staff. The rooms were clean but felt they were smaller than expected for a family of four. There is an onsite restaurant and bar that was convenient but Matlock is only a 10 minute walk from the resort. Overall good value for money.

Great little themed rooms, the WiFi was a little hit and miss but not an issue as it was good to get off grid for a while. Warm, hot shower. Nice coffee/tea station. Great little themed rooms, the WiFi was a little hit and miss but not an issue as it was good to get off grid for a while. Warm, hot shower. Nice coffee/tea station. Only downsides are we had no hairdryer, and the noise, the banging of the doors and people in the corridors and main door made the room shake. Also there didn't seem to be any storage to store our belongings and we booked for 2 nights. Other than that it was a lovely little place, close to the main little shops, and we had a lovely weekend.

“Great staff but the place is tired”

We had a one night stay as a base for Matlock Bath and The Heights of Abraham the next day. The whole place really needs a brighten up; everything we saw, outside and in, looked really tired. We had a one night stay as a base for Matlock Bath and The Heights of Abraham the next day. The whole place really needs a brighten up; everything we saw, outside and in, looked really tired. Even the lines on the carpark were disappearing. There are 3 main buildings which I believe are the themed rooms and a small crescent of shipping containers below, which are more standard rooms. Ours was a double (two singles badly pushed together) and a bunk bed above in a shipping container. My 6yo daughter was excited by the bunk bed, but they are particularly close to the ceiling, just for info. The heating was great but it was a good few degrees warmer in the high beds where the heat rose so difficult to find a happy medium. Beds were comfortable but the pillows were a bit floppy and old and the bedding came out of place very easily. The place was clean but there was a damp patch on the floor near the bed and under the side table. We reported it straight away and Xavier was really apologetic and thankful we’d reported it. He checked if there was a spare room but as it was valentines they were fully booked so brought in lots of towels to cover the patch. He also offered complimentary drinks if we were coming into the bar. As we were out for the evening he gave us complimentary breakfast rolls in the morning which we appreciated. He was a pleasure to deal with and the other staff we encountered were also very friendly. When we arrived back in the evening there was marshmallow toasting. I didn’t catch the staff member’s name but she was fairly young and dealt with the obnoxious kids very well and made a real point of keeping everyone safe and was very patient in doing so. I don’t think I’d have managed to stay so professional had I been in her shoes! Overall a good place for a short stay but it would be great to see it have a refresh.
