We stayed eight nights (November 2025) at Origins Floral Luxury Lodge just outside Bijagua, Costa Rica, in a king room that featured a stunning fire-fed plunge pool. The architecture and interior design are truly beautiful—bold local artistry, thoughtful details, and a cohesive sense of place that feels both luxe, lush and private. The design and atmosphere of the hotel contributed significantly to our relaxation (we arrived very burned out). The grounds are also meticulously laid out, with deliberate planting that showcases the tropical splendor of Costa Rica. We spent a lot of our time on the expansive porch, binoculars in hand, watching the incredibly diverse bird life that fluttered by. The staff at the front desk and in the office were warm, friendly, and wonderfully organized which contributed to a seamlessly smooth stay. Nothing was ever too much to ask. The food at Origins was monumental—delicious, and generously portioned, with three courses for lunch and dinner plus amuse-bouche. The French chef delivered world-class fare, and it truly felt like dining at a top-tier restaurant. Sergio, the manager, and the entire kitchen and service team were exceptionally attentive, going above and beyond to accommodate my dietary restrictions. It was truly next-level. The offsite tours led by local guides were the absolute highlight, especially our guide Irvin, who made the excursions exciting and informative. We honestly wouldn’t have enjoyed our stay as much without him—his enthusiasm for spotting snakes and other creatures matched ours. One standout experience was the Huella Waterfall walk with a cattle farmer on his property. The trek took us past two beautiful waterfalls, and his wife treated us to a traditional home-cooked meal. We also fell in love with their tiny dog, Blackie, who darted back and forth through the woodlands as we trekked. The experience felt very authentic. We also highly recommend the Cacao Farm tour. We did two Tapir Valley tours—one at night and one during the day. Despite torrential rain on the nighttime tour, we were fortunate enough to see a tapir. The experience was unforgettable, and we’d recommend returning in daylight to take in the bird life and other wildlife. We spotted three snakes, tent-making bats, and a snow-capped hummingbird, among other marvels. Our stay at Origins Floral Luxury Lodge was a remarkable blend of luxury, nature, and genuine hospitality – every detail contributed to a deeply memorable experience. If you’re seeking a lush, bird-rich rainforest escape with attentive staff and authentic local adventures, this hotel is an outstanding choice—and we’d gladly return.

Our family had a fantastic stay at Origins Lodges. The staff were very accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable about the surrounding nature. They assisted with coordinating activities our family wanted to do, like going on a lagoon tour, which was outside of Origins grounds. Our group ranged in age from young children to elderly adult; all had a great time. The food was top notch (much of it sourced from their garden). Also, the unit we stayed in was beautiful and tidy. If you have an opportunity to visit Origins Lodges I highly recommend it!

“Great lodge to explore Bijagua’s surroundings”

Set in the middle of a magnificent wooden area between volcanos, the lodge offers an authentic but extremely comfortable way to explore the surroundings with its lush vegetations, the birds, the animals and the flora. Great place, extremely friendly and very helpful staff, great cuisine!

Our stay at Origins Lodge was truly something special, the kind of place that just stays with you after you leave. From the moment we arrived, everything felt peaceful and very intentional, like you’re completely disconnected but still super comfortable. The villas are stunning, very private with incredible views, and waking up surrounded by nature was just unreal. The food was a big highlight, every meal felt like a experience on its own, fresh ingredients and really well executed dishes. Claudia and her team do a great job, always making sure everything runs smoothly while keeping a warm and genuine approach. The service overall was great, very attentive but never over the top, which made everything feel natural and relaxed. It’s the perfect spot if you’re looking to slow down, enjoy nature and just reset a bit.
