wonderful family place
We bought a hotel+flight option from British airways last year to the Carema Playa. We were there in the beginning of September for 10 days, flight from Heathrow, in the superior apartment with the sea view. The room is equipped with a kitchennette (kettle, electric cooker, + fridge) which is handy. The only downside in our room was a quite laud noise from the (compressor? pump?) dudar which feed the splash park, as I understand. It's a bit like a helicopter which never shuts down the engine. Not a problem in a day time as you unlikely to stay in the room but a bit annoying at night.
What a wonderful place, great water park, entertainment for adults and little guests (our 2 years old daughter was all engaged in the evening kids activities!).
It's just in 1-2 min walk from the sandy beach from the canteen but it's good to have a sundome (as we had) or a parasol because they charge for sunbeds/parasols on the beach. If you like snorkling, then on the right from the main sandy beach is a lovely snorkling rocky place. Also would recommend to rent a car for 2-3 days and go and explore beaches around the island. We were to Son Bou and Cala Turqueta, the first one has big parking/food places nearby and the latter has small parking/one small cafe on the good walking distance. Both were beautiful and different, sandy beaches; Son Bou is better for relaxation and Turqueta is better for snorkling.
Having a car, try to make it to Fiesta - during our stay it was fiesta in Es Mercadal, and it was a very special event, indeed!
Food in Carema: we had an all inclusive option. Food was marvelous, from pizza bar (Italian chef) to fish and fresh salads. All tastes, even our LO agreed to eat there and she is a terrible eater. If you want a change, then in all inclusive you can have a meal at the one of 2 restaurants next to the Carema. There is a gelateria (ice-cream shop) next to the bus stop. Want to cook - the minimarket shop is just under the splash park.
The personal is all so friendly and kind, and the animation team was fantastic with kids and adults activities. Would recommend aqua gym at 11:00 every day, fun excersise and refreshing.
The weather was all warm (hot) all 10 days, even in the evening there is no need to put cardigan BUT mosquitos will eat you alive in the evening (anti-mosquito creams are must there!)
Interesting observation: the smaller Aldea Playa hotel from the side of Carema is greener, quieter and cheaper, guests there eat in the Carema canteen and can use the waterpark and all other Carema facilities. Whereas Carema is located on the hill (good climbe to loose some all-inclusive extra calories, we did not complain), Adlea is very plain. Adlea also has 2 swimming pool and the separate exit to the snorkling rocky beach.
To finish it up, our family loved staying in Carema, will only recommend Carema or Aldea to go. The price this year rose up (or pound dropped down), but if you can make it then you will never regret and will have a great holidays
